Wow! I didn't expect it to be this hot here in Jeffery's Bay. But I guess This Is Africa (T.I.A. is what we say all the time). The majority of the tourists have gone home from thier holiday getaway here in Jeffery's. This town was crazy and crowded for the month that I was gone. I'm actually pretty glad I missed out on that! The weather is so sunny and HOT! but I think it only lasts for a few more weeks and then it should be a bit more pleasant.

On Saturday, we helped host a 5k Fun Run/Walk. It was a fundraiser for the Josua Project (J.P.). Five of the people on our team have J.P. as thier ministry every week. It is a program for street kids or at risk kids. They have classes there to teach the children in the mornings and in the afternoons they do a variety of activities. It is agreat program for the kids in Jefferys. We helped host the fundraiser. It was a 5 kilometer (3.1 miles) walk or run. The participants ran or walked along the beach. I was at the half way point with three other people handing out water. The weather was pretty warm but it was on the beach so if anyone got too hot they could just jump into the ocean for a second. It was a really good turn out. I'm not sure how much money was made but it was a very successful day! I am so thankful for all who turned out.

Well, this week was our first week back at ministry. As you know, I work at Ithemba, an afterschool program. It was so great to see all of my beautiful kids again. I work with the little ones so it was crazy to see how much they've grown in only one month! Our first day there, we just played games with the kids and got to know some of the new kids to the program. I work with the creche (pronounced kresh - it's their word for preschool). Many of my kids graduated to kindergarten last semester so now I have a whole new bunch. They are so adorable! The second day at Ithemba, Tuesday, was one of the hottest days since we've been back. Everyone at Ithemba was so tired from the heat. So we put away our plan for the day and walked home to get the slip and slide that we used last semester. We put out the slip and slide, put some soap on it to get them cleaned up, got the hose out and the fun began. The kids loved getting cooled off in the slip and slide. It was such a fun time. Then on Wednesday we had our first "normal" day. We did a skit and a lesson and a craft. It was neat to see my new class and how they work together. They were very quiet and good students. I cannot wait to get to know them more. Thursday was a free day for the kids to do whatever they wanted and have fun just playing around. They are so cute!

Please be praying for me and my team. Our house was broken into over the break and some people got computers and ipods stolen. Also, our house was broken into yesterday and my purse was stolen. Please pray for protection over our house.

Well, it feels great to be back in Jeffery's bay. I'm feeling a bit homesick, but it happens to all of us at some point. Well thank you, everyone for your prayers and your support! Have a wonderful day!
